We are all officially invited to resume our magical studies at the greatest university in the Multiverse. However, this semester is a little different! We're exploring the mysteries hidden deep within the school and venturing far beyond the campus walls. To make sure you are fully prepared for the upcoming competitive season, we have put together your ultimate orientation guide for the new academic year.
Master New Mechanics and The Mystical Archive
One of the most exciting aspects of this expansion is the brand-new "Prepare" mechanic. This innovative design features a two-part card frame. The main portion of the card functions as a standard creature, while an inset box in the lower right corner acts as a unique spell that the creature has prepared for battle. This gives you incredible flexibility during your matches, allowing you to cast powerful incantations directly from your creature cards to gain a tactical advantage.
Beyond the new mechanics, collectors are already passing notes and gossping in the bathroom about the triumphant return of the Mystical Archive. Just like our first visit to the university, this set features a dedicated bonus sheet of iconic instants and sorceries from Magic's rich history. Every Play Booster and Collector Booster will contain these gorgeous cards, complete with unique English and highly sought-after Japanese alternate art frames. For the ultimate collector, Wizards of the Coast is also introducing the brand-new Codex Bundle, which includes a mix of Play and Collector boosters alongside an exclusive spindown life counter and stunning full-art foil promos.

This time around, the legendary students we met years ago have stepped up to become the leaders of their respective factions. For players looking to jump straight into the action without building a deck from scratch, this highly anticipated launch features five unique preconstructed Commander decks.
You can channel the power of the past with the Lorehold Spirit deck, craft a masterpiece with Prismari Artistry, or calculate perfect victories using Quandrix Unlimited. If you prefer a sharper tongue, the Silverquill Influence deck is ready for debate, while the Witherbloom Pestilence deck allows you to harness the cycle of life and death. No matter which college you align with, these decks provide the perfect starting point for your next multiplayer game night.

Acquiring the latest cards is exciting, but the true magic happens when our community gathers (eh, eh?!) to play. We believe that a thriving local game store is the best classroom a hobbyist could ask for. To celebrate this massive launch, we are hosting a fully packed syllabus of in-store events.
The semester kicks off with our official Prerelease Tournament on April 18. If your weekend is fully booked, you can still participate by picking up an At-Home Prerelease kit starting April 17 to crack packs at your own pace. The curriculum continues throughout the spring with our casual May Commander Party on May 3, our highly competitive Store Championship on May 16, and our wild Open the Archive Pick-Two Draft series beginning on May 26. We even have a June Commander Party and a special Magic Presents: Pride event scheduled for June 6!
